Links

to other mathematics enthusiasts and their works

Lots of time - on-line - had gone into the compilation of these links. The objectives in doing so are:
(i) to provide an insight into the international IMO community
(ii) to promote the Internet as a means of communication and exchange of information.

The 1995 Canadian IMO Team Homepage
Constructed by Donny Cheung , this homepage provides in-depth information about the 1995 Canadian IMO Team and a personal account of the IMO experience. In particular, the author included information about the team's recreational a ctivities, namely Tarock, Bridge, Mao and the Ultimate Frisbee Game.

Ben Leong's Homepage
Ben Leong is a member of the 1992 Singaporean IMO Team. This homepage, however, is not about his IMO experience. The focus, instead, lies on his student life at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States of America. An excellent exampl e of life after the IMO. Also on this homepage are links to Chiang Kai's, Choong Siang's and Tracey's homepages.

Mathematics Competitions in Poland
Information and problems from the following mathematics competitions: the Austrian-Polish Mathematics Competition, the Mathematical Olympiad in Poland, and the Baltic Way Mathematical Team Contest can be located on this homepage maintained by Krzysztof Ch elminski and Waldemar Pompe.

Romanian Mathematics Competitions
A rare and valuable collection of problems from Romania, including the IMO selection test problems, compiled by Dragos Oprea, whom I met during the 1995 IMO and whom Davin met at Harvard in the following year; challenging, perplexing and original.

Mathematical Olympiad Problems
A site featuring a comprehensive on-line collection of Olympiad problems obtained from various sources. (For instance, the SMO problems were obtained from this web-site!) These problems could be downloaded in various formats such as HTML, DVI and PostScript.

The Japanese IMO Homepage
Constructed by Naomasa Maruyama - member of 1993, 1994 and 1995 Japanese IMO team, this homepage provides almost exclusive accounts of the 1993 and 1994 IMOs, as well as a link to the Official 1995 IMO Homepage. Indeed a pity that I had not met Naomasa Ma ruyama!

1995 IMO Picture Gallery
A collection of 127 pictures taken during the 1995 IMO held in Toronto provoking fond memories of the event.

37th IMO Homepage
Constructed by yours truly, this homepage on the 37th IMO was one of the first to be put up. It outlines the performance of the Singapore team and provides the problems amongst other information on the IMO.

A Tribute to the Americans..

"I have recently visited the Mathematical Olympiad Program (the US equivalent of the SIMO) web-site as well as the home-pages of several former IMO contestants from USA. It is heart-warming for me to see the camaradie that exists among some of these contestants, and the 'network' which they have set up among themselves."
- Hede, on what prompted him to construct a SIMO homepage.

The IMO Info Page
Dr. Walter E. Mientka, Executive Director, American Mathematics Competitions is the author of this homepage. Probably more appropriately titled 'The USA IMO Info Page', this homepage describes the IMO programme in USA, and how the team is selected based o n the performances in the Anerican Mathematics Competitions.

MOPNet
"MOPNet, the "official" home page of the Math Olympiad Program (MOP). (The official acronym is MOSP, for Math Olympiad Summer Program, but MOP is easier to pronounce, and to draw...)"
This homepage is constructed by Kiran S. Kedlaya, former IMO contestant and deputy team leader of the 1996 USA IMO team.

Lenny Ng's homepage
I met Lenny during the 1993 IMO in Istanbul. He was one of the first people whose shirt I signed on. An affable character, who together with several other contestants, led a most exhilarating standing ovation during the closing ceremony of the 34th IMO to express our gratitude towards Turkey for a most memorable IMO experience.
Remark, 12/6/1998: For about a year I had this link labelled with an asterik, until today when I stumbled upon the new page, together with a link back to this page, as well as an interesting remark :)
