An essential root in Nonya cooking, its flavour and yellow colouring makes dishes distinctive.Another well-used ingredient belonging to the ginger family that appears in
Asian cooking.
For example, "Nasi Kunyit" or yellow coloured and flavoured rice is well known to most people
in South-East Asia.
