37th International Mathematical Olympiad
The 37th IMO was held in Bombay, India, July 5-17, 1996.
From the cut-off scores (Gold 28, Silver 20, Bronze 12), it is evident that the problems are very difficult. Nonetheless, the Singaporean IMO team put up an impressive performance and obtained an IMO gold medal which had eluded Singapore for years.
The top 10 teams and their scores (out of a possible 252 points) Romania (187), U.S.A. (185), Hungary (167), Russia (162), United Kingdom (161), China (160) Vietnam (155), South Korea (151), Iran (143) and Germany (137).
