The Internet is full of multimedia information that contains graphics, video and audio. The most common graphics format on the Internet and which all web browsers can read and display is the Compuserve GIF (Any gaphics, images or pictures with the .gif extension). Other formats include JPEG JPG, Windows 3 BMP, PC Paintbrush PCX, etc. There are graphics software that are available freely on the Internet for downloading that can display majority of the graphics format. An example is the Alchemy's Graphics Workshop.
You will require a multimedia capable computer to display video and audio. Basically, you will need a sound card and a good video adapter which may be MPEG capable.
Movie clips showing trailers of your favourite or latest shows are freely available to be downloaded from the Internet and playback on suitable software. Majority of the movie clips are in the Quicktime .mov and Microsoft Video .avi format. These trailers are usually large document files. Other formats include the industry standard MPEG which is the de facto standard for CD-ROM videos.
Quicktime is a format developed by Apple Computers. The necessary drivers and player can be dowloaded from Apple Quicktime homepage and installed on the windows platform.
Let's visit the yahoo's movie listing page and download some clips.
Internet Games
There are games on the Internet that you could download and play on your computer. However, do beware of viruses when you use these game files. If you are into multiplayer games, you could try hunting Wumpus with other players on the Internet. Search the resources such as the Pacific Internet Interesting Sites connection for information on games and games network.
